One of the oldest mining sites in the world, Rosia Montana village offers archeologists and historians valuable insights into its 2,000-year mining tradition. Should the mining plans be approved, the surrounding mountains and nearby valley will be transformed into four gigantic mining pits and a dam holding cyanide-laced tailings, which could lead to a bigger environmental liability than the toxic sludge in Hungary in case of design failure. Gold miners in the Magadan Region prepared for the start of the new mining season by blasting huge layers of earth on Wednesday. Extracting precious metals from the permafrost is extremely difficult as the ice thaws to a depth of one metre (3.28 feet), even over the summer months. That means miners have to blast the ground, before rinsing the soil in search of gold and other precious metals. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ To use this footage please contact the Ruptly Client Desk: cd@ruptly.tv Video ID: 20150313 021 ---------------------------------- Twitter: http://twitter.com/Ruptly VK: https://vk.com/ruptlytv Facebook: http://www.facebook.com/Ruptly LiveLeak: http://www.liveleak.com/c/Ruptly Vine: https://vine.co/...

Budapest is the capital and the largest city of Hungary, it is also one of the largest cities in the European Union. The Budapest Metropolitan Area is home to 3.3 million people and covers an area of 525 square kilometres (202.7 sq mi). Budapest became a single city occupying both banks of the river Danube with the unification of Buda and Óbuda on the west bank, with Pest on the east bank on 17 November 1873. 2. Despite only having a national population of 10 million people, Hungary ranks 8th in both Golds and total medal count at the summer olympics. This places Hungary in 2nd, for the most summer olympic gold medals per capita at just under 60'000 people per gold medal. 3. Since 1981 Hungary has seen a decrease in population year by year. The disparity between births and deaths have been stable at around negative 30 to 40'000 for the last 20+ years. However things are looking good as many people are migrating into Hungary and population decline is slowing. 4. Hungary's current borders were first established by the Treaty of Trianon (1920) after World War I, when the country lost 71% of its territory, 58% of its population, and 32% of ethnic Hungarians. 5. Hungary is a popular tourist destination attracting more than 10 million tourists every year (2013).[16] It is home to the largest thermal water cave system[17] and the second-largest thermal lake in the world (Lake Hévíz), the largest lake in Central Europe (Lake Balaton), and the largest natural grasslands in Europe (the Hortobágy National Park). 6. Hungary's main industries are mining, metallurgy, construction materials, processed foods, textiles, chemicals (especially pharmaceuticals), and motor vehicles. Hungary's main agricultural products are wheat, corn, sunflower seed, potatoes, sugar beets; pigs, cattle, poultry, and dairy products. 7. Hungary has had 12 Nobel Prize winners in four of the five Nobel Prize fields, Chemistry, Literature, Physics, and Physiology or Medicine. Hungary even has a recipient of the "Nobel Memorial Prize in Economic Sciences" which was established by Sweden's central bank in 1968. 8. The Communist rule in the Hungarian People's Republic came to an end in 1989. Hungary is now a unitary parliamentary constitutional republic. It joined NATO in 1999 and the EU five years later. 9. In the earliest times, the Hungarian language was written in a runic-like script. The country switched to the Latin alphabet after being Christianized under the reign of Stephen I of Hungary (1000–1038). 10. The rubik's cube, thermographic cameras and ballpoint pens were all Hungarian inventions. During the Ottoman Wars, the Turks made concerted efforts to conquer rich mining towns in Upper Hungary (Banská Štiavnica, Banská Bystrica, and Kremnica). This new threat led Banská Štiavnica to build powerful fortifications, including two castles, in the 16th century. The town was also a leading center of innovation in the mining industry. In 1627, gunpowder was used there in a mine for one of the first times in the world (After Le Thillot, France). To drain water from the flooded mines, a sophisticated system of water reservoirs and channels, known as tajchy, was designed and built by the local scientists Jozef Karol Hell, Maximilian Hell, and Samuel Mikovíny in the 18th century. In 1782, Banská Štiavnica was the third biggest town in the Kingdom of Hungary (with 23,192 or incl. suburbs 40,000 inhabitants), after Pozsony (today Bratislava) and Debrecen. But the town’s development was too closely linked to the mining activity which had been progressively declining since the second half of the 19th century.

Banská Štiavnica ; German: Schemnitz; Hungarian: Selmecbánya , Polish :Bańska Szczawnica is a town in central Slovakia, in the middle of an immense caldera created by the collapse of an ancient volcano. For its size, the caldera is known as Štiavnica Mountains. Banská Štiavnica has a population of 10,000. It is a completely preserved medieval town. Because of their historical value, the town and its surroundings were proclaimed by the UNESCO to be a World Heritage Site in 1993. In the High and Late Middle Ages, the town was the main producer of silver and gold in the Kingdom of Hungary. In 1782, Banská Štiavnica was the third biggest town in the Kingdom of Hungary (with 23,192 or incl. suburbs 40,000 inhabitants). But the town’s development was too closely linked to the mining activity which had been progressively declining since the second half of the 19th century.

A szerkezeti mozgásokhoz kapcsolódóan jelentős ércesedés is lezajlott. A vasérceket egyéb ásványok kísérik. Később a vasérc bányászata került előtérbe. A XVIII.-XIV. században a könnyen kohósítható barnavasércet termelték, majd az 1960-as években áttértek a mélyebb szintek sziderites vasérceinek bányászatára. A kezdetben kisüzemi módon bányászott vasércet a közeli kis kohókban olvasztották. A termelés az 1880-as évektől, a borsodi iparvidék nehéziparának fejlődésével, nagyüzemivé vált. Elérhetőségei a következők: 3733 Rudabánya, Petőfi utca 24., telefon: 06 (48) 353-151.

Narrow Gauge in Hungary - Mk48 diesels haul local passenger trains on the network radiating out of Nairegyhaza to Balsa and Dombrad. The sections are split and combined at Herminatanya, the junction seen on the video. A quaint operation with much streetside running in the towns. The signals are not for train control, but rather to tell the driver to stop to pick up passengers.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ To use this footage please contact the Ruptly Client Desk: cd@ruptly.tv Video ID: 20150313 021 ---------------------------------- Twitter: http://twitter.com/Ruptly VK: https://vk.com/ruptlytv Facebook: http://www.facebook.com/Ruptly LiveLeak: http://www.liveleak.com/c/Ruptly Vine: https://vine.co/Ruptly Instagram: http://www.instagram.com/Ruptly Google Plus: http://google.com/+RuptlyTV YouTube: http://www.youtube.com/user/RuptlyTV DailyMotion: http://www.dailymotion.com/ruptly Video on Demand: http://www.ruptly.tv
